| When you log in to the Free ICD site, a new session is started for you. Any of the following Search Options that you set will be maintained until you either close your browser window(s), return to the Search Options screen and make changes, or stay idle long enough to have your session ended by the server. The current session time is set for 4 hours. This keeps you from having to start new sessions repeatedly throughout the day. 1. If you do not submit ICD Volume 3 hospital procedures for billing of Medicare Part A claims, you can toggle this switch off and no procedure codes will be displayed with your code searches. 2. Any notes that would be found in a Standard ICD book can be searched for. This includes the supplementary, Includes and Excludes notesSince the Free ICD site does not require user passwords, we cannot create profiles in which to store personal notes...that means that you cannot create or search for personal notes. 3. Search Enhanced will simultaneously look for your criteria in the CODES, INDEX, DRUGS, and NEOS spines, plus a listing of common abbreviations used in the health care industry, then display matches in the CODES file for final review. Use this option if you want to do all of your coding from the CODES book spine. Most users prefer to have this setting on as it allows you to begin and end diagnosis coding in the ICD CODES section 4. Only Search Abbreviations will limit your search to the table of abbreviations for the current search only Subsequent searches will revert to your previous settings. 5. This search option, which allows ICD volume 3 and CPT procedures codes to be searched simultaneously is not available with the Free ICD site. |
